Omnisense
is developing a hierarchy of products to meet the majority of
requirements for high accuracy real time tracking, whether for
people (soldiers in combat zones, Fire Service personnel dealing
with emergencies, athletes in a race), for assets (equipment
airside at an airport, trucks or buses within and moving in and
out of a depot, safety critical plant in a mine) and for
livestock (dairy cows in barns, beef herds in fields).
Omnisense’s
patented technology enables all these requirements
to be dealt with by the same platform with appropriate
integration with other systems and appropriately tailored
outputs. Which specific Omnisense solution best fits the
requirement can be determined by the systems integrator or end
customer, and our consultancy team is available to help our
customers achieve the optimum end result.
Omnisense
products currently fall into three main categories;
Series
200. This product has been operating successfully
in a demanding environment (horse racing) for some five years.
It provides high accuracy (<0.5 metre) in real time on up to
40 horses in a race over a 1-2 km range at an update rate of 4
times a second.
The system has a classical
architecture with receivers in predetermined positions, but
uniquely the receivers are wireless and readily portable. This
means that compared with other classical systems there is a
substantial saving in installation costs for the infrastructure
and, further the whole installation can be easily transported
between locations, thus saving the cost of duplicate
installations on multiple sites.
This system has continuing
appeal where there is the requirement for high accuracy in
tracking of people or objects in substantial but defined areas
and there is a requirement to save costs through the portability
of the system.

Series
400 “Cluster” System. This
revolutionary patented system eliminates the need for any fixed
infrastructure with major cost and operability benefits. Each of
the mobile tags communicates with similar devices to determine
relative positions in real time. With the incorporation of GPS in
just a small proportion of the devices the whole cluster will be
aligned to a geo-referenced coordinate frame so that all know
their absolute and relative positions.
Prototype Cluster devices
are available for demonstration from end Q1 2010 and are
integrated with GPS and INS to provide seamless indoor / outdoor
capability, good accuracy (<3 metres) and high performance
even in GPS denied environments. The first iteration of the
Series 400 is at a cost level acceptable in a variety of markets
and a number of trials are planned with potential customers in Q2
2010.
Interest in the Series 400
products comes from mining, healthcare, defence, first responder,
agriculture and transport.
Series
500, Cluster plus SWB. Omnisense is now developing
a third generation real time system, with a prototype planned for
Q1 2011, which integrates the patented SWB ranging techniques
with Cluster relative positioning technology. This product will
give very high accuracy (<1 metre), substantially increased
scalability (At least 10,000 mobile tags) and materially
increased range and resilience for certain specific markets.
